The Secret Headmaster

Notes from a Prep School

The Secret Headmaster by George Bailey
£12.99

The purpose of writing this book is to offer a glimpse into the world of independent schools and the realities of headship. It is, at times, demanding, occasionally absurd and rarely dull. A sense of humour is strongly recommended.

George Bailey is the pseudonym of a headmaster who has, for the past thirty years, led an extraordinary life in the world of independent school education. The obvious allusion to the main character in the film, It’s a Wonderful Life, hopefully highlights that, in the end, all we are trying to do is our best. I have also used the names of Charles Dickens’ characters to add some flavour.
